Dry Vanilla Bean - 7 thumbs up!

It is not often that I find a soda these days that I haven't tried before.  The June issue of Food Network Magazine (I dare not repost the content) features craft sodas that you can find throughout the USA.  I was sad to see that I had tried nearly every one!

Fortunately I discovered the DRY Vanilla Bean soda while at the Deckers cafeteria last week.

This soda was great!  It was exactly as described - dry and with a vanilla bean taste.  It went well with lunch!

Not as good as the watermelon cream soda, but not bad either.  This soda was a on the bland side.  Thank you to Ben Farber for getting this one for me!

A good cream soda is not easy to come by.  This was not bad at all.  It didn't abandon the cream for the watermelon flavor.  It is also not overpowering or too strong.  Not bad!

This soda is caramelly and good but not exactly a cream soda.  It is very sugary!

It's not every day that you drink a soda featuring Muammar Gaddafi.  I'm just glad that it was made making light of his time in power and not one of his demise.  The soda was very sugary with a strong caramel taste.  It isn't really a cream soda.  As far as novelty sodas go, you could do a lot worse.

AJ Stephans Cream Soda - 9

An Excellent taste and just the right carbonation. AJ Stephans got this one right!

Napa Valley Vanilla Creme - 6

A beautiful golden color. This soda smells nice as well. Those are about all of the positive aspects of the soda, though. It gets lower points for the sticker label – stuck on the glass instead of regular print-on-glass silk screen. Also, the soda is way too sugary. It's drinkable, so 6 thumbs up, but not one I need to rush back for.

Zuberfizz Vanilla Crème

Zuberfizz Vanilla Crème : 3/14/2007: Thanks to Nick Picon for bringing this from Durango, CO. Not bad! Very vanillay and very creamy. Almost like drinking vanilla ice cream.

Trader Joes Vanilla Bean Cream soda

Tommyknocker Almond Crème

Tommyknocker Almond Crème : 5/19/2003: I've never had an almond crème before, and it's good! I'd give it seven and a half thumbs up. It goes down very smooth, isn't too strong or too light. Naturally, it has an almond taste to it. Very nice.

Stone Creek Cream Soda

Stone Creek Cream Soda : 4/13/2004: I don't know what this is, but it's not a cream soda. I can only guess that they had some leftover syrup of some sort and mixed it with a LOT of water. Pretty weak. 3 thumbs up.

Spritzer Vanilla Crème

Spritzer Vanilla Crème : 6/27/2004: From the RW Knudsen Family, this soda contains 65% juice - that's more than most box drinks that kids get (10%). Unless your kids drink JuicyJuice (supposedly 100%). This definitely has a strong vanilla taste, but not necessarily a good one. It is clear all the way through - no carmel added. What it doesn't mention is that it is vanilla crème greap juice (unless you read the ingredients). I thought that vanilla was a bean, not a juice! Still, it has a strange flavor that I don't need to drink regularly. A nice aftertaste of vanilla, though! 4 thumbs up.

Sioux City Cream Soda

Sioux City Cream Soda : 3/24/2003: Watery. I'd give it about a 6 out of 10. It wasn't bad, per se, but there wasn't much more to it than water. It gets points due to the bottle being both custom pressed and silkscreened. The taste is outdone regularly, though.

Polar Cream Soda

Polar Cream Soda : 12/25/2006: Straight from the Food Lion in Bassett, VA. This soda more or less exploded upon opening. It must have been pre-shaken and retained its carbonation. This wasn't fun to clean up. Worse, the soda was sub-par. An okay cream soda but I won't need to go back. 

Olde Philladelphia Cream Soda

Olde Philladelphia Cream Soda : 5/12/2003: Not bad. These Olde Philadelphia drinks tend to be a bit watered down, but in the case of cream soda, that's a good thing. It smells stronger than it tastes. 6.5 thumbs up!

Natural Brew Vanilla Bean Crème

Natural Brew Vanilla Bean Crème : 4/6/2003: You can tell that it's naturally brewed, but that's not necessarily a good thing for taste. 6 thumbs up. I finished it, but barely. It was medium thick and had just a weird taste to it.

Moxie Blue Cream

Moxie Blue Cream : 11/5/2005: Delicious taste of bubble gum. I really enjoyed this. It's quite sweet. If you like bubble gum and the color blue, this is the soda for you!

Journey Caribbean Crème Soda

Journey Caribbean Crème Soda : 5/28/2004: On the label, this soda claims to have a "hint of pure coconut." I think that "hint" may have been a typo for "pint." This is like drinking pure coconut extract! A little strong and sweet for me, but a truly interesting soda. 4 thumbs up.

Jack Blacks Blue Cream Soda
